Ms. O and Mrs. McMahon getting ready for the storm
All our bags are packed
We're ready to go
All smiles before the bus
Oh, boy(s)...
Listening to Miss Klabe's rules
The mascots were a hit
Waiting for the delay
Finally!
And, we're off
The first group photo
The view from atop the Newseum
Another shot from up high
Waiting for the delay
The California Girls
The Peavis brothers
Washington and his monument
Packy looking cool
Mom and I

How many group photos will I make them do?
In line for pizza...notice, pj pants at 7pm...sleepy

Some fun at the pool before turning in for the night
One long day comes to a close. Twenty-four hours after we all gathered at PVIS, we checked into the hotel.
Thank you parents and students for making our departure a smooth one. A BIG thanks to our bus driver and her loading skills as our bus had no luggage compartment. The kids discovered quickly the benefits to packing light.
Jet Blue had a nice staff that expedited our check in process. Only one lost boarding pass, and that was quickly fixed. We had to wait for our delayed flight, which seemed to tire out the kids. Many got a couple hours of quality plane sleep. As expected, the kids did a nice job being respectful to those trying to sleep on the plane.
We hit the ground running as soon as we landed. Darnell greeted us, and the group headed to McGills for a breakfast buffet. I was excited to be joined by my mom at the restaurant. She became our 4th chaperone for the day. (And is on duty again tomorrow.) After a refueling breakfast, we got back on the bus and journeyed into the city.
Our first official stop in DC was the White House. (I know what the itinerary said…but that was subject to change.) We figured it would be best to get a good group shot in on a gorgeous day rather than risk the rain later. However, the students seemed more interested in the East Coast squirrels than the home of the prez.
It was then onto the Newseum. We were able to catch the 4D movie, and then take in the exhibits. There was a great view of the Capitol from the rooftop deck. After spending a bit of time there, we made a pit stop at Union Station for some lunch. First lesson of the day: don’t rip your lunch voucher.
The group then headed to the WWII Memorial where we got in a few photos among the massive amount of people. Trekking through the crowds, we headed past the Washington Monument and toward the Holocaust Museum. Second lesson of the day: don’t wander off without telling your chaperone. After a quick recount and regrouping, PVIS toured the Holocaust Museum and took in the startling images.
Their eyes were getting weary, and legs were achy. But, we continued our journey to three more memorials. After walking through the Korean War, Lincoln, and Vietnam War Memorials, we finally boarded the bus for the ride to relaxation. The kids were troopers. Not too many whines. Lesson number three: sleep on overnight flights.
The kids checked into their rooms…their homes for the next three days. Pizza seemed to lift their spirits, and a few headed over to the pool for a little game of Marco Polo. Alas, nine o’clock came, rooms were checked, and doors are taped.
The children are tucked all snug in their beds while visions of their beds danced in their heads.

Until tomorrow…
(A very sleepy) Miss Klabe

**The website is acting especially slow uploading pictures. I'll keep trying, but eyes are fading. If they don't make it on tonight, I'll try again in the morning.
